Bryan's RV Repair , Lake Wales FL

Well , the adventure continues , on our way to Wauchula, Florida , about twenty miles away from the next RV Resort the RV stopped !!!!! I guess it decided this was far enough for now ..........

We joined " Good Sams RV Emergence Service " before we started our adventure.....good thing we did........after four hours of waiting for a tow truck and a 90 minute ride we were at our "camp " for the next few days .........The tow guy said if we didn't have the tow policy the cost of this rescue out of our pocket would of been between $700.00 and $800.00..........

Here is our "site " and view :

As I said earlier , by the time the tow truck arrived and towed us to " Bryan's Car Truck and RV Repair Center " it was past 10:00 pm.....We called a number Sams gave us and the owner Bryan showed up , unlocked the gates and set us up with water and electric for the night ......Talk about full service !!!!!! The next day Chuck the mechanic for our sick RV worked to diagnose the problem ......he believed the fuel pump is over heating and shutting down from time to time ...this is the third time this has happened to us in the past three years......so they ordered a pump which will take 3 to 4 days to ship in ........So home is were we park and this is home for now.............

Another couple came in the next day for some scheduled work on there RV and will be here for two days also....their names and Gary and Kathy ........Gary suggested we go with them to a tractor pull event close by and we were glad we did ........here are pictures from that event ......

These were Alpacas that were there ....very soft fur and gentle animals....

We went to the movies one day .....a park another day and then after 8 days at the Garage , our RV was done and we were on our way to Lake Waldena in Silver Springs , Florida ........Our friends The Perrys' are there for a month and we'll spend the next two weeks recouping from the last eight days .....All part of the " adventure ".........
For my Green Harbor friends Sharon is still here and I'm sure looking forward to whats around the next corner ......

Key West, Florida

We arrived the our campground on 16 February 2010 ....Its on Marathon Island which is at the half way point to Key West ...... This picture was taken the day we arrived ......it was windy and cold .....high around 55 degrees......

Sharon and I spent seven days there and it did warm up to about the mid eighties for a couple days.......We talked to campers near our site they suggested we take the Conch Train Tour ... We did ......it takes about four hours and they show you all the most interesting and fun places at the end of U.S.of A.......

So it was a good start to our Keys adventure .......here are some shots from the train......

We had to visit Ernest Hemingway's' home .....the house was ok but there were way to many cats everywhere.......here are some pictures :

We had lunch and a few beers at the popular " Sloppy Joes " this one dude was toasted and fun to watch .....make sure you check out the video.

We also visited the Truman " White House " ....we weren't allowed to take pictures but it was very neat and full of history ...If anyone goes to the Keys please stop there......

I forgot to tell you all some thing my last blog so ......Yes , Sharon is still here ...............................

Lake Okeechobee , Florida

Well , Florida weather has not been the greatest , I'm told its the coldest winter in years. But all I have to compare it to is all the years of winter in Rochester N.Y. so its damn nice to me...........
We have been at a campground named "M RV Resort " for three weeks with one more to go .......The sites are large and we have a pond directly behind us .....One early morning Sharon noticed something in the water and called for me to get the camera and have a look .......these are pictures of what we saw ......

I was very excited and looked for someone to share the joy of these fine animals..... I saw a fellow camper , ran to him and with the excitement of a child said " come look I found three seals in the pond " He called his wife and ran to see the "seals " after a couple of minutes he said those are some fine otters and thanks for calling them .....OH did I say seals I meant otters ....yes three cute otters is what i meant to have said ..........Sharon thinks we need to go to a zoo soon......

The Perrys arrived a few days after we got here and we've spent fun days together .....Jim and Shirley Perry were our Neighbours on Post Ave. in Hilton N.Y. there retired and have spent the last four or five years traveling in their RV for the winters .........

We sent time at a fine Tiki Bar with good wings and things and good cold beers....

We also , took a tour of the sugar cane fields and processing plant along with orange orchards and plant .....very interesting .....they burn the fields before the harvesting of the cane so to the cutting and processing easier....

they put the cut cane in train cars to take to the plant .

It was at this point of the tour the bus got stuck ........I got out to record and supervise the rescue

Jim , Shirley and the other tour members sat and patiently waited......

The guide Mr. Hunter cut and cleaned some sugar cane and offered it to the folks that wanted to suck on and taste the fresh sugar .......

Our last adventure was to The Billy Swamp Safari ...We went with Jim and Shirley and Ernie and Dean from West Virginia ........The cost was reasonable compared to others and fun.......

Please take a look at the video Sharon took its really neat .......
turn your volume up also and listen to the sounds of nature .........
The M RV Resort had some nights of music....campers with talent
Our friend Jim Perry sang and he was quite the hit .......A very nice voice he has..........

Because of the below normal temperature the manatee ( manatie plural ? )have been seeking warmer water ....Near a power plant in Ft. Meyers we found hundreds of them swimming around very slowly and lazily ......I like their attitude ....

A couple of pictures while we waited for our lunch table on Sanibel Island a beautiful Island but way to busy .......

Even found time to do some plumbing at the campground .......

We're on our way to the Florida Keys now .....hope winter is treating you all OK and we'll be slowly heading North when we leave the Keys........
