Lake Okeechobee , Florida

Well , Florida weather has not been the greatest , I'm told its the coldest winter in years. But all I have to compare it to is all the years of winter in Rochester N.Y. so its damn nice to me...........
We have been at a campground named "M RV Resort " for three weeks with one more to go .......The sites are large and we have a pond directly behind us .....One early morning Sharon noticed something in the water and called for me to get the camera and have a look .......these are pictures of what we saw ......

I was very excited and looked for someone to share the joy of these fine animals..... I saw a fellow camper , ran to him and with the excitement of a child said " come look I found three seals in the pond " He called his wife and ran to see the "seals " after a couple of minutes he said those are some fine otters and thanks for calling them .....OH did I say seals I meant otters ....yes three cute otters is what i meant to have said ..........Sharon thinks we need to go to a zoo soon......

The Perrys arrived a few days after we got here and we've spent fun days together .....Jim and Shirley Perry were our Neighbours on Post Ave. in Hilton N.Y. there retired and have spent the last four or five years traveling in their RV for the winters .........

We sent time at a fine Tiki Bar with good wings and things and good cold beers....

We also , took a tour of the sugar cane fields and processing plant along with orange orchards and plant .....very interesting .....they burn the fields before the harvesting of the cane so to the cutting and processing easier....

they put the cut cane in train cars to take to the plant .

It was at this point of the tour the bus got stuck ........I got out to record and supervise the rescue

Jim , Shirley and the other tour members sat and patiently waited......

The guide Mr. Hunter cut and cleaned some sugar cane and offered it to the folks that wanted to suck on and taste the fresh sugar .......

Our last adventure was to The Billy Swamp Safari ...We went with Jim and Shirley and Ernie and Dean from West Virginia ........The cost was reasonable compared to others and fun.......

Please take a look at the video Sharon took its really neat .......
turn your volume up also and listen to the sounds of nature .........
The M RV Resort had some nights of music....campers with talent
Our friend Jim Perry sang and he was quite the hit .......A very nice voice he has..........

Because of the below normal temperature the manatee ( manatie plural ? )have been seeking warmer water ....Near a power plant in Ft. Meyers we found hundreds of them swimming around very slowly and lazily ......I like their attitude ....

A couple of pictures while we waited for our lunch table on Sanibel Island a beautiful Island but way to busy .......

Even found time to do some plumbing at the campground .......

We're on our way to the Florida Keys now .....hope winter is treating you all OK and we'll be slowly heading North when we leave the Keys........
